Deferred action can help many people who have emigrated to the US.The policy directs U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to practice Prosecutorial discretion towards some individuals who immigrated illegally to the United States as children.
Although a grant of deferred removal action does not confer lawful immigration status, alter an individual’s existing immigration status, or provide a path to citizenship, DACA is still a useful policy that helps undocumented immigrants temporarily halt deportation.
Our Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Forum resource guide takes you through the processes you need to have in place when you decide to hold a DACA forum in your community.
